The bus takes us to the North Cape plateau, which juts out into the sea – flat and barren before it drops dramatically into the ocean. Here we experience the iconic North Cape area and feel the unique sensation of standing at the northernmost point of mainland Europe.

Out on the plateau, we can take photos by the iconic globe. The weather here changes quickly – one moment the fog may roll in and hide the view, and the next the sky opens up to reveal a stunning panorama of the Barents Sea. It’s all part of the magic of North Cape.

Inside the North Cape Hall, we recommend starting by exploring the facilities and experiences available before breakfast. You can watch a 180‑degree panoramic film showing North Cape through all four seasons, visit the chapel, the Thai museum, and the souvenir shop built into the rock wall, before enjoying a good breakfast in peaceful surroundings.

From North Cape to Hammerfest, we have a three‑hour bus journey. We travel through the Honningsvåg Tunnel, which connects the North Cape area with the rest of Magerøya. We then continue through the North Cape Tunnel – an undersea tunnel from the 1990s, about 6.9 km long and 212 metres below sea level – which links Magerøya to the mainland and ensures year‑round access.

Along the way, we enjoy a combination of guiding and time to relax and take in the Arctic landscape. The route takes us through mountains, fjords, and vast coastal areas, with small stops as needed. There are limited facilities early in the journey, and the first possible restroom stop usually comes after about two hours.

Finally, we arrive in Hammerfest – one of the northernmost towns in the world – where Havila Voyages awaits to take us further south along the Norwegian coast.
