About the excursion

Would you like to try being a real dog musher in the wild and beautiful landscapes of Northern Norway? With Pirate Husky in Honningsvåg, you’ll experience the unique bond between humans and dogs in nature and try your hand at dog mushing on dry land.
Upon arrival, you’ll meet the enthusiastic sled dogs and receive an introduction to dog mushing, including safety instructions and how to steer the cart. You’ll travel in pairs per team, where one person steers and brakes the cart while the other rides as a passenger.
During the trip, you’ll have the opportunity to switch places so both can try being the musher. The dogs pull a specially designed wheeled cart through the Arctic terrain surrounding the kennel. Along the way, you’ll experience speed, stunning nature, and the dogs’ genuine joy in working. No prior experience is required, as the guide provides all necessary training before departure.
After the tour, you’ll return to the kennel, where you can spend time with the dogs, meet the rest of the pack, and take photos with these energetic and friendly sled dogs. Transportation to and from the quay is included.
The tour lasts approximately 1 hour and runs in several time slots: 11:15–12:15, 12:15–13:15 and 13:15–14:15. You will be assigned a departure time by the expedition team on board a couple of days before the excursion begins. In order for the activity to take place, at least two people per vehicle must be willing and able to drive themselves, including braking along the way. Guests must dress in warm clothing suitable for Arctic conditions and be aware that clothes may get dirty during the activity. There are no toilet facilities available.
