Experience the Atlantic Ocean Road

Experience the Atlantic Ocean Road

More than eight kilometres of road that winds past the open sea and over skerries and islets. No wonder the Atlantic Ocean Road has been named one of the world's most beautiful roads.

On the way to the Atlantic Road, we drive through Kristiansund, known as Norway’s clipfish town – a title the city has held since the 18th century. The city developed around international trade in clipfish, and during the tour you will taste one of the many dishes that can be made from this ingredient; bacalao.

The Atlantic Road is also highly sought after by car manufacturers producing commercials – and has recently been used as a filming location for car chase scenes in a James Bond movie. We maintain a slower speed so you can enjoy the scenery, and we also take time for photo stops.

After the drive across the sea, you continue through an undersea tunnel and arrive at Kvernes Stave Church. The stave churches, with their timber framework, are Norway’s most important contribution to European architectural history. Kvernes Stave Church is richly decorated with foliage motifs on walls and ceilings, as well as an altarpiece and other interior details reflecting the lush and colourful Baroque style of the 1600s.

The journey ends in Molde, the “Town of Roses”, where we enjoy a short sightseeing tour by bus before being dropped off at Molde quay to wait for the ship to arrive.
