The tour starts in Sandnessjøen, where we put on life jackets and flotation suits before departing by RIB. We set course south towards the Vega Archipelago and travel through the island landscape of the Helgeland coast, with views towards the surrounding mountains.

Along the way, the captain shares information about the landscape, and we make short stops at selected locations along the route. We pass Petter på Skjæret, a 10-metre-high bronze monument placed on a small islet. The tour continues through Herøysundet and past Brasøy and Skålvær, a former trading and fishing settlement where the wooden church from 1889 still stands.

The route continues south into the Vega Archipelago UNESCO World Heritage area. Here, the landscape consists of a large number of islands, islets and skerries. The area was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004, based on the interaction between people and nature over more than 1,500 years. The tradition of eider duck farming is central to this landscape, where nesting sites have been prepared and eiderdown has been harvested as part of the local livelihood.

At Gardsøya on Vega, we go ashore and visit the Vega World Heritage Centre. Here we join a guided tour focusing on life in the island communities and how traditions are still maintained today. After the visit, coffee/tea and a local tasting are served, followed by time to explore the area on our own.The tour then continues towards Brønnøysund via Grimsøysundet, a narrow strait where the landscape comes close.

Along the way, we pass Rørøy and Ylvingen, known from the TV series Himmelblå, and still an active island community with residents and local services.

The tour ends at Kongebrygga in Brønnøysund, where we board a Havila Voyages ship and continue our journey south.
