The Sámi, the Indigenous people of the North, have their own distinct language and culture and inhabit Sápmi, a traditional region spanning Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia.

A Sámi reindeer herding family near Tromsø has worked with these animals for generations and cares for a herd of around 300 reindeer. They welcome you to join them for an authentic cultural experience that brings you close to both nature and Sámi traditions.

Start your visit by hand-feeding the reindeer herd and experiencing close contact with these gentle Arctic animals. Continue into a traditional lavvu (Sámi tent), where a hot, home-cooked meal is prepared over an open fire and served in a warm and authentic setting. Inside the lavvu, you will learn about Sámi culture, history, and way of life.

The experience ends around the fire with joiking (traditional Sámi singing), storytelling, and cultural sharing, offering a unique and personal insight into Sámi heritage in an intimate Arctic setting.

Please note that this excursion does not include a reindeer sledding experience. If weather conditions allow, reindeer sledding can be purchased directly on site, and you will receive more information about this upon arrival at the camp. Payment can be made by credit card (Visa/Mastercard) or in cash in Norwegian kroner.
