Get close to both wildlife and nature on this excursion starting in the heart of Raftsundet!
In Raftsundet we change means of transport and board a smaller boat, MS Orca. On the way towards Trollfjorden, we enjoy the views of the dramatic fjord landscape, and there are good chances of spotting white-tailed eagles along the way.
The cruise into Trollfjorden takes us through a narrow and majestic fjord, flanked by steep mountain slopes carved by winter avalanches. This fjord can only be reached by boat. The dramatic landscape also offers stories from both living communities and abandoned fishing settlements. One of them is the story of when small traditional fishing boats collided with new steam-powered vessels in the battle for cod known as the Trollfjord battle.
Both Raftsundet and Trollfjorden are known for their large population of white-tailed eagles, the largest bird of prey in Northern Europe with a wingspan of up to 2.65 metres. When this giant with its characteristic “fingers” at the tips of its wings and its yellow, sharp talons passes overhead, you can understand the North Norwegian legend of the three-year-old girl said to have been taken by a white-tailed eagle.
The boat tour ends in Svolvær, where we board a Havila Voyages ship and continue our journey.
