Killer whale swimming in the sea

A large shadow comes up by the side of the boat, breaks the surface of the water and blows. Water is sprayed, and you can feel it on your face. This is how it is on a whale safari. The orcas hunt in pods looking for herring. And you are with them.

Skjervøy is an island municipality surrounded by fjords and the sea. Both orcas and the huge humpback whale, which can reach 19 metres in length and weigh up to 40 tonnes, can be found here.

Further inland, the alpine landscape is great for winter activities, while in the northwest, a narrow canyon with tall waterfalls offers hiking in the summer. Keep an eye out on the trail. Almost all of Scandinavia's mountain plants, small orchids and rare plants, grow here. And if you look up, there are wild waterfalls, such as Mollisfossen, Northern Europe's highest waterfall.
